About Us
The NECC is a REGIONAL early childhood collaborative. We serve as the School Readiness Council. The Office of Early Childhoods’ School Readiness Preschool Program provides affordable, high-quality early care and education services that help young children prepare for kindergarten. We are also a group of local community members, including parents & caregivers, early childhood providers, librarians, school superintendents & staff, health professionals, community agencies, businesses and local government.
Our mission is to promote effective programs and policies to address early childhood education, the social, emotional and physical health of children and family support and engagement. The NECC hosts meetings and events throughout the year that are open to all community members.
This is important as there is power in numbers and working as a region allows us to share resources, experiences, ideas and skills when working on behalf of our children.
The NECC looks at all areas that could affect young children. We have committees that work in the areas of mental & physical health, safety and early care & education for all children in our seven communities.
We believe our work will help create a brighter future for everyone in Northeastern Connecticut and we invite you to join us. ALL community members are welcome.
We are funded through a partnership grant supported by the Preschool Development Grant Birth through Five Initiative (PDG B-5), Grant Number 90TP0071-01-0, from the Office of Child Care, Administration for Children and Families, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and our seven school districts and Boards of Education.
